これからはおもに吹奏楽を紹介していますが、塾長はカラオケも得意で高知県では誰でも知っているテレビ局主催カラオケ歌謡選手権での決勝大会の優勝者です。
From now on, I am mainly introducing wind bands, but the Master is also good at karaoke and is the winner of the final of the karaoke singing championship sponsored by a TV station that everyone in Kochi Prefecture is familiar with.　

それ以来自称「高知で一番歌のうまい塾の先生」を自負しています。
Since then, I have been proud to call myself "the best singing cram school teacher in Kochi.

　学生時代より勉強以上に吹奏楽に打ち込んでいました。楽器演奏だけでなく音大の先生やプロの音楽家 などに作曲・編曲・指揮を師事し高知に帰って、ボランティアでバンド指導をしていました。
Since my school days, I have devoted myself to wind band music even more than I did to my studies. I not only played an instrument, but also studied composition, arrangement, and conducting under professors at music schools and professional musicians, and returned to Kochi to volunteer as a band instructor.

　この演奏はこのバンドが草創期から発展期になった頃に指揮者として招聘され5年ほど指揮をしましたので、そのバンドの第20回の記念演奏会にゲスト指揮者として呼ばれた時のものです。
I was invited to conduct this band when it was in its early stages of development, and I conducted it for about five years, so this performance was given when I was invited as guest conductor for the band's 20th anniversary concert.

　バンドの個性を少しでも出したいがためにまた、コンサートを少しでも楽しいものにするために演奏会用のプログラムなどいろいろな曲を編曲していました。5年間のうちに5～60曲はしたと思います。この時優秀な奏者もいてこの曲を演奏できましたが、既成の譜面では飽き足らず最後をよりダイナミックに、私の好きなカウントベーシースタイルでのエンディングに変えてみました。 今ではこのバンドは高知でも有名な市民バンドに発展しています。
　I think we did between 50 or 60 arrangements over the course of 5 years. I had some excellent players at the time, and we were able to play this piece, but I was not satisfied with the existing score, so I changed the ending to a more dynamic, count bassist style ending, which I like. Now this band has developed into a well-known citizen band in Kochi.

　久しぶりの指揮でしたが今でも心躍る仕上がりの演奏です。

　ジェームス・ラストオーケストラ演奏のこの曲は、以前野球評論家の佐々木信也さんが司会をしていた「プロ野球ニュース」の「今日のホームラン」というコーナーのBGMで利用され、 わが国ではヒットした曲です。単純なコード進行の曲ですからすぐ覚えられて乗りがよく、今日のホームランのBGMに選んだ方のセンスは、かなりの物だと思います。
This song, performed by the James Last Orchestra, was a hit in Japan when it was used as background music for the "Today's Home Run" section of "Professional Baseball News," which was hosted by baseball critic Shinya Sasaki. The simple chord progression of the song makes it easy to learn and easy to ride along to, and the person who chose it as the background music for today's home run must have had good taste.

　この曲は大人数での吹奏楽の演奏では大変面白く、吹いている方も気持ちがよく乗れる曲です。 最近あまり演奏されなくなりましたが、いつか演奏のチャンスがあればまた取り上げて、ドッカーンと大きな音で合わせてみたい曲です。
This piece is very interesting when played by a large wind band, and the player can ride it well. It is not played very often these days, but if there is a chance to play it again, I would like to pick it up again and play it together with a big thumping sound.

　RKC の名司会者だった小椋アナウンサーの声が、高知の皆様には懐かしいでしょう。

　この「アレルヤ！ラウダムス・テ」は吹奏楽の巨匠、アルフレッド・リードの作曲で数ある彼の作品の中で、私の最も好きな曲です。パイプオルガンなどのパートも書かれてあり機会があれば、この曲をオーケストラ用に編曲して聴きたいと思うほどの秀作で、聴いている方以上に演奏している方も胸が熱くなってくる曲です。
This "Alleluia! Laudamus Te" was composed by Alfred Reed, a master of brass band music, and is my favorite of his many works. It is such an excellent piece that I would like to hear it arranged for orchestra if I had the chance, as it has parts for pipe organ, etc. It is a piece that makes the performer's heart beat faster than the listener's.

　 この曲を大人数で限られた時間にまとめ指揮するのに、すさまじいエネルギーが要った事を鮮明に覚えていますが、短時間の練習でこれだけの人数でのこれだけの演奏ができたことは、やはりこの曲が演奏者の気持ちをも熱く感動させる、素晴らしい作品だと思います 。高知の若者のパワフルで感動的な演奏をお楽しみ下さい。数回聴けば必ずこの作品のすばらしさに気付かれるでしょう。
I vividly remember the tremendous energy it took to conduct this piece with a large group in a limited amount of time, but the fact that we were able to perform it with such a large group in such a short amount of practice time shows that this is a wonderful piece of music that moves even the performers passionately. Please enjoy the powerful and moving performance by the young people of Kochi. You will surely recognize the beauty of this piece after listening to it a few times.

　演奏している当時の若者たちも今はお父さんお母さんになり、その彼らのお子さんがまた、吹奏楽に熱中しているかもしれません・・・。音楽は素晴らしいですね！
The young people playing back then are now parents, and their children may be passionate about wind bands again.... Music is wonderful!
